The Klinikum Magdeburg gGmbH (formerly owned by the Städtisches Klinikum Magdeburg ) is a hospital with a focus on care (in contrast to other federal states, Section 3 of the State Hospital Act in Saxony-Anhalt defines four levels of care: basic care, specialty care, special care, and university care). The Magdeburg Clinic has 791 beds (as of 2018), is located in the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg and has existed in this form since 1994. The clinic is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Magdeburg .
Emergence
It was created on the basis of a city council resolution through the merger of the Old Town Hospital (KHA), the Walter Friedrich Hospital ( Magdeburg-Olvenstedt , KHO) and the Vogelsang Hospital. In 1999, however, the Vogelsang hospital area was taken over by a private provider and outsourced. Since July 1, 2007, all clinics can be found at the Olvenstedt location after the construction work was completed. The property of the former old town hospital has been empty except for the ambulance station set up there.
A total of around 1450 people were employed at both locations (as of 2011). On average, almost 29,000 patients are admitted as inpatients or part-time inpatients each year, and over 27,000 patients were treated as inpatients or outpatients as emergencies.
With effect from January 1, 2008, the clinic was converted from a municipal operation into a non-profit GmbH (gGmbH) wholly owned by the state capital Magdeburg .

Furthermore, the clinic has a valid contract with the state of Saxony-Anhalt for the emergency medical staff of the rescue helicopter "Christoph 36", which is stationed at the Olvenstedt location and has been successfully operated since the beginning of air rescue after the fall of the Wall. The staff of the "Christoph 36" consists of a pilot from the DRF Luftrettung, emergency doctors from the Magdeburg Clinic and the Magdeburg University Clinic and emergency paramedics from the Magdeburg / Börde / Harz regional association of the Johanniter Accident Aid.
