The Memmingen Clinic is a hospital in Memmingen . It is the second largest clinic in the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria and, as a hospital providing specialist care (care level II), has 14 main departments, eight dialysis places , 500 beds and employs around 1,700 people.
In 2018, 23,900 inpatients and around 82,100 outpatients were treated, there were also 2,108 births and over 5,500 dialyses were performed.
The clinic was created through the merger of the former district hospital with the city hospital. The clinic has been an academic teaching hospital of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich since 2004 .
The city of Memmingen is responsible for the clinic. The clinic has been a municipal company of the city of Memmingen since January 1, 2020. The city council is currently discussing the future of the clinic, as the current building complex is showing its age and, despite two extensive renovations and additions, no longer meets today's numbers and requirements. There are major space problems, especially in the emergency room and the central operating room (ZOP). The lack of parking spaces is also strongly criticized.
The District Hospital Memmingen (BKH) is located in the same building . The district clinics in Swabia are responsible for this specialist hospital .
