The Klipp-Klapp-Galopp is a quick polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 466). The work was performed for the first time on February 10, 1896 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna under the direction of Eduard Strauss .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta Waldmeister . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 463 , 464 , 465 , 467 and 468 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The Schnellpolka is based on an operetta scene right at the beginning of the stage work. There the actors flee from a storm to a mill. In this mill scene, Strauss used a theme that he had already sketched in his youth in view of a mill. This very subject became the main subject of this polka. The premiere on February 10, 1896 took place during the carnival ball of the journalists' association Concordia . Subsequently, the work, which is still played today, became an integral part of the Strauss Chapel's repertoire.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 19 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
