Acts first to third
It's a love story that, after a few twists and turns, as usual in operettas, finds a happy ending . A woodruff punch plays a decisive role on the way to this happy ending . In the end, through the effects of alcohol, the right couples are found.

reception
Compared to other operettas by Johann Strauss, the operetta Waldmeister has remained a little paler musically and has therefore not been able to build on the composer's great successes. The work was performed 88 more times after the world premiere. Today the operetta as a whole has largely disappeared from the repertoire of theaters. Individual music numbers have been preserved and are occasionally performed at concerts. This includes the woodruff overture , Klipp klapp, hurry after happiness , the woodruff said it , trust, look, who? and Love comes, love goes .
Ralph Benatzky reworked the operetta into a version in two acts in a new musical arrangement .
Musical re-use
Independent works by the composer were then created based on motifs from this operetta, which are identified in his catalog raisonné with the opus numbers 463 to 468. These are the following works:
- Trust, look who! , Waltz, Opus 463
- Herrjemineh , Polka-française, Opus 464
- Love and Marriage , Polka-Mazurka, Opus 465
- Klipp-Klapp-Gallop , Schnellpolka, Opus 466
- It was so beautiful , Marsch, Opus 467
- Woodruff Quadrille , Opus 468
