It was so wonderful

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It was so beautiful is a march by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 467). The work was performed for the first time on March 15, 1896 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The march was put together based on motifs from the operetta Waldmeister , which premiered in 1895 . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 463 , 464 , 465 , 466 , and 468 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The main motif of the march is the couplet of the same name from the 3rd act of the operetta. In the trio, parts from the finale of the 2nd act and the couplet Now you hear are processed. The world premiere took place as part of Eduard Strauss's Sunday concerts on his 61st birthday in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 25 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
