Dale W. Hardin

Dale Wayne Hardin (born September 9, 1922 in Peoria, Illinois ; died September 4, 2014 in Austin ) was an American lawyer and government employee. From 1967 to 1977 he was a member of the American regulatory authority Interstate Commerce Commission .

Life

Dale Wayne Hardin was born to James and Lucille Elgin Hardin. He attended public schools in Peoria and studied at Bradley University for two years .

After graduating, he went to Washington DC and started working for the FBI .

On November 10, 1942, he volunteered for military service. In the Marine Corps , he served in the central and southwestern Pacific. In 1946 he was honorably discharged as a second lieutenant .

He then studied at George Washington University and obtained an AA degree in 1947 , an AB degree in 1948 and an LL.B. in 1951. He then worked briefly in a law firm before returning to work for the FBI. Until 1954 he was employed in New York Ciy.

In 1954 he moved to the Interstate Commerce Commission . First he worked as a lawyer in the finance department. From 1955 he was legal advisor on legislative processes and the ICC's liaison to the US Congress . In 1959, he briefly served as secretary and legal advisor to the Transportation Association of America.

From 1963 to 1966 he worked as a manager in the transport and communications department at the American Chamber of Commerce . He was then Vice President of The Overmyer Inc. until 1967. In 1967 he was brief advisor to the American Trucking Company, before being replaced by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 10, 1967 as the Republican successor of Charles A. Webb for his vacant seat on the Interstate Commerce Commission was nominated. The Senate confirmed the nomination on July 27, 1967 with a term of office until December 31, 1972. The oath of office was taken on July 31, 1967. On July 1, 1971, he exchanged seats with Commissioner Laurence K. Walrath . His term of office expired on December 31, 1970. Hardin was re-elected by the Senate through December 31, 1977. He resigned on August 31, 1977. His seat remained vacant and was canceled on January 1, 1983.

He was then until 2000 professor at Southwest Texas State University of law and political science.

Dale W. Hardin was married with two children.
