history

In 1681, the Saxon Elector Johann Georg III. the owner of the Niedercunewalde manor, Wolf Rudolph von Ziegler and Klipphausen , established a settlement called “Klipphausen” on the corridors of the Niedercunewalde manor. In 1685 15 Bohemian exile families lived in “Klipphaus”. Wolf Rudolph's son had more religious refugees from Silesia settle here in 1692. In 1840 Klipphausen consisted of 30 houses, which were lined up around the basin of the Elzebach. The "Teichschenke" was built on one of the two ponds located in it. Klipphausen was never independent, but always formed part of a community. Until 1876 the settlement belonged to the community of Mittelcunewalde, since then it has been part of Cunewalde. In the second half of the 20th century, a base for agricultural machines was built in Klipphausen and a concrete factory instead of the brick factory.

The “Buschmühle” is located at the lower end of the village after Mittelcunewalde. The approximately 350 year old mill now serves as a sawmill. The associated house is a large half-timbered house with profiled columns and a slate-covered half-hip roof. Several one- and two-storey half-timbered houses have been preserved in Klipphausen.
