The monastery of La Colombe (Notre-Dame de la Colombe; Columba) (not to be confused with the Sainte-Colombe priory near Longwy, founded in 1633 ) is a former Cistercian abbey in the commune of Tilly in the Indre department , Center-Val de Loire region in France . It was about 37 km southeast of Argenton-sur-Creuse on the road to Lignac.

history

The monastery was probably founded around 1138 and joined the Cistercian order in 1146 as a subsidiary of Preuilly Monastery . Thus it belonged to the filiation of the Cîteaux monastery . It was rebuilt in the years from 1414 to 1434. In 1493 it fell in the coming period . It was dissolved in the French Revolution . The church and chapter house were demolished before 1833, the refectory in the north in the middle of the 19th century.

Buildings and plant

In addition to the mill, the corps de logis , the surrounding walls , the remains of a canal and two pools have been preserved.
