Marienkamp Monastery (Dinslaken)
The monastery Marie Kamp was a former nurses' home after Rule of St. Augustine in Dinslaken , which existed from 1433 to 1808.
The monastery complex included: the chapel , the building yard with stables, a brewery , sister chambers, a corridor with the house of the priest and the prioress , in the back part of the bleaching room, wash house and gardens .
The monastery church was a late Gothic chapel with a turret , similar to the church of the Marienthal monastery .
The facility took up the entire property area on the edge of the Neustadt between today's Klosterstrasse, Friedrich-Ebertstrasse and Wallstrasse.
The whole area was surrounded by high walls and some of the branches of the Rotbach .
history
The sisters are first evidently mentioned on January 3, 1433. A convent book from the 15th century, on the other hand, mentions the year 1434 as the founding date of the Marienkamp sister association.
Towards the end of the 17th century the economic situation of the monastery deteriorated. It was abolished in 1808.
The site was transferred to Dietrich Jungmann and Bernward Lehmkuhl in the course of the auction in 1810 . The church building was later sold to the Jewish community, which repaired it and converted it into a synagogue . The Israelitische Kultusgemeinde used it until it was destroyed in the pogrom night in 1938.
Today a plaque in the parking lot reminds of the monastery.
