The Klosterdeichwetter is a moat system in Uetersen in the Pinneberg district .

course

The Klosterdeichwetter rises in the urban area of Uetersen near the federal highway 431 (An der Klosterkoppel) and runs south through the historic dike meadows of the Klosterkoppel. Other smaller tributaries and drainage ditches flow into the Wetter from the west and north. These also drain the meadows, which are only one meter above sea level . Before the Pinnau was straightened and dyed, this ditch system was important several times for the watering of the low-lying dike meadows, as today's old town and the Uetersen monastery were protected by a dam (today Kastianienallee). Only protected by the dam did the great flood of 1412, the storm surges of Christmas 1717 and October 7, 1756 flood the area several meters high and dozens of people fell victim to the water.
