Klosterreichenbach is a suburb of the municipality of Baiersbronn in the northern Black Forest . He joined her in 1974 with the other Murgtal communities Huzenbach and Schönmünzach . It owes its name, which it has only had since 1897 (previously Reichenbach ), to the Reichenbach Monastery .

history

The monastery was founded in 1082 and three years later by the Constance Bishop Gebhard III. consecrated by Zähringen . With the donation of the Heselbach settlement in 1289, Reichenbach continued to grow. In 1585 the first elementary school was built in Reichenbach. The monastery was evacuated in 1595 on the orders of Duke Friedrich I and Reichenbach became a reformed place. Due to the evacuation of the monastery, however, almost all of the citizens of Reichenbach were driven out and so it only had about 40 inhabitants.

From 1618 to 1648 the village suffered greatly from the aftermath of the Thirty Years' War and the plague . In order to encourage the settlement of new citizens, it was decided between 1620 and 1651 to sell the monastery-owned land and buildings, such as the monastery mill and the Meierhöfe, cheaply. In 1796 Reichenbach had about 300 inhabitants and 100 years later there were already 750. In 1807 Reichenbach became an independent municipality of the Oberamt Freudenstadt . The first town hall was built in 1864 and the monastery church was renovated in 1894. Reichenbach was given its current place name in 1897 and thus became Klosterreichenbach.

Heselbach, which was donated to Reichenbach by the Count Palatine of Tübingen in 1289 , was officially incorporated into Klosterreichenbach in 1935.

On January 1, 1974, Klosterreichenbach, Huzenbach and Schwarzenberg were incorporated into Baiersbronn.
