František Kloz (born May 19, 1905 in Mlékosrby , Austria-Hungary , † June 13, 1945 in Louny , Czechoslovakia ) was a Czech football player . The striker scored 175 first division goals and played ten international matches for the Czechoslovak national team . The football stadium in Kladno bears his name in his honor.

Club career

In his youth, František Kloz played for Nový Bydžov, Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Slavoj Roudnice and SK Roudnice. In 1928 the striker moved to SK Kladno , where he spent most of his career. Kloz quickly gained a foothold in Kladno and secured a regular place. In the 1929/30 season he was top scorer in the Czechoslovak League with 15 goals. In 1931 Kloz moved to Slavia Prague , where he could not manage and soon went back to Kladno. From 1933 to 1934 Kloz tried again in Prague, this time at Sparta Prague , where he was not happy either. Kloz scored 175 goals in the first division, 172 of them for SK Kladno and three for Slavia Prague. For Kladno he scored 592 goals in a total of 478 league, cup and friendly matches. He is a member of the ligových kanonýrů club .

National team

On October 28, 1929 he made his debut for the Czechoslovak national team in which he made a total of ten games and scored six goals. However , he was absent from the 1934 World Cup in Italy . Kloz played his last international match on December 1, 1937 at White Hart Lane in London , Czechoslovakia defeated England 4-5. A little more than a year earlier, he had scored four goals in the 5-2 win against Hungary in Prague .

Coaching career

Kloz was the trainer of SK Kladno from December 1942 to September 1943 .

death

František Kloz fought against German occupiers in the spring of 1945 and was so badly injured near Hříškov that he died a few days later on June 13, 1945 in a hospital in Louny .
