The Knight's Armament Company , or KAC for short , is an American weapons manufacturer that not only produces weapons but also accessories such as target optics and silencers.
History and technology
In 1983, C. Reed Knight founded Knight's Armament Company in Vero Beach, Florida , and is still the CEO today. Eugene Stoner worked at KAC from 1990 until his death in 1997 . During this time the AR-10 / AR-15 weapon family developed by him were further improved. But there were also new designs such as the SR-25 , SR-50 or the Stoner LMG . All of the weapons that Eugene Stoner worked on still bear his name, namely SR , short for Stoner Rifle .
KAC not only manufactures weapons, but also accessories for them. These include, among other things, a silencer , a rail interface system for your own but also for third-party weapons (M14, AK-47, MP-5, G36 etc.). Night vision devices are also produced under the name Universal Night Sight . Some of these are used by the US Army as AN / PVS-22 or -26. As with many other manufacturers, various small parts are produced, for example mounts for riflescopes , strap holders and magazines. It is produced today with 350 employees at two locations in Florida, namely Vero Beach and the corporate headquarters in Titusville, and under two different names Knights Armament Company and Knights Manufacturing Company (MFG) (for civil weapons).
Not only weapons for civil use, but also weapons for military use are manufactured. The US military has put some weapons from KAC into service: These include the SR-25 as Mk 11 Mod 0 SRS (1990, US Marines ) and KAC M110 SASS as M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System (2008, US Army ) as well as the KAC SR-47 for the USSOCOM .
Others
Since 2008, KAC has had an app called Bullet Flight developed by Runaway Technology Inc. for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch . Bullet Flight is a ballistic software that is specially designed for rifles manufactured by KAC. Various parameters such as the ammunition used, wind speed, temperature and so on can be specified and calculated. There are also shock-absorbing holders for the iPhone and iPod touch that can be mounted on a rifle with a Picatinny rail .
