Knjaschewo (or Knyazhevo , Bulgarian Княжево von Knjaz , to German prince ) is a Bulgarian village in the municipality of Topolowgrad in the province (Oblast) Haskowo in the southeast of the country, near the Bulgarian-Turkish border. The village is located in the Thrace landscape in the Tundscha Valley, between the Sakar and Strandscha mountains .
Knjaschewo is on the 2nd order national road II / 76 , which connects the village with Topolowgrad in the west and Elchowo in the northeast.
As part of the “Strandscha-Sakar project” of the Institute for Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences , archaeological excavations have been taking place near Knjaschewo since 2011 under the direction of archaeologist Daniela Agre , which are investigating and conserving a tell (settlement mound) and an associated Thracian mansion.
