Knut Benjamin Pißler

Knut Benjamin Pißler (born January 3, 1971 in Kassel ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

After graduating from high school in Kassel (1990), he studied law at the University of Würzburg (1991–1993) and law and sinology at the University of Hamburg (1993–1996), completing the Chinese language course at the Department of Language and Culture of China at the University of Hamburg (July 1995, Magister Artium November 2007), first state examination in law in Hamburg (November 1996). He had a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service for a language and research stay at Nanjing University (November 1996 – September 1997). He was a trainee lawyer in Hamburg (April 1998 – July 2000). After the second state examination in law in Hamburg (July 2000), he conducted research at the Sino-German Institute for Law at the University of Nanjing as part of a doctoral scholarship from the DAAD (September 2000-August 2002). He was a research fellow and doctoral candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (August 2001 – July 2002). Since August 2002 he has been a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. After completing his doctorate at the University of Hamburg in 2003, he carried out research from September 2004 to March 2005 at the invitation of the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) at the Law Faculty of Yonsei University . After completing his habilitation in 2013 at the University of Göttingen , he has been a professor there since May 2017 .

His main research interests are comparative law, Chinese and Korean civil law, in particular banking and capital market law, contract law, real estate, tenancy and condominium law, and the law of non-profit organizations (NPO).
