Knut Bergmann

Knut Bergmann (born May 23, 1972 in Erkelenz ) is a German political scientist and journalist .

Life

education

Bergmann studied political science, psychology and public law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität . In 2002 he received his doctorate there with an overall presentation of the Bundestag election campaign in 1998. In his dissertation, Bergmann analyzed the strategies and campaigns of parties, the candidates for chancellor, the coalition strategy and the campaign organization, as well as national political influences on the election campaign. As a Fellow of the New Responsibility Foundation , he dealt with the future of political parties in 2009 and 2010.

Professional background

Bergmann began his professional career in 2002 as a personal advisor to Sabine Christiansen . Then in 2005 he first became a policy advisor in the Office of the Federal President and then a speechwriter for Federal President Horst Köhler . In 2009 he became a speechwriter for Norbert Lammert, President of the Bundestag . In 2012 he moved to the Institute of German Economics , where Bergmann heads the communications department and the Berlin office. He has lectureships at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences on the subject of communication management, at the University of Duisburg-Essen on the subject of political communication and at the Free University of Berlin on the subject of public history and is a fellow at the NRW School of Governance .

Journalistic activities

In 2018 Bergmann published a cultural history of the Federal Republic in Insel Verlag based on the wines that were served at state banquets. In the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , the book was rated as a "knowledgeable, clever and always entertaining story of wine and sparkling wine in diplomatic services". In a book review, Der Spiegel commented that the way chancellors and presidents dealt with wine and sparkling wine had shaped the history of the Federal Republic more than was previously known. In 2019 the book received a Gourmand World Cookbook Award . Most recently, Bergmann worked scientifically on the topic of the Alternative for Germany party . Otherwise he publishes on socio-political issues in various media (including FAZ , NZZ , Welt , Die Zeit ).
