Knut Gerschau (born July 3, 1961 in Bremerhaven ) is a German entrepreneur . He is the former chairman of the board of the German Foundation for World Population (DSW).

Career

Gerschau grew up in Bremerhaven and, after moving to Wilhelmshaven in the meantime, earned his Abitur in Bremen . After completing his military service in Bremen and Schleswig-Holstein , Gerschau moved to Hanover . He then studied at the University of Hanover Economics .

In 1984 Knut Gerschau founded the Gerschau.Kroth.Werbeagentur together with Robert Kroth. GmbH in Hanover. He has been a managing partner there since it was founded .

Social and political engagement

Knut Gerschau took part in the election of the German Federal President on February 12, 2017 as a member of the 16th Federal Assembly .

He led business delegations to the world exhibitions (Expos) in Spain, China, Japan and Italy and led a human rights delegation to South America. As part of his board activities at DSW, he also traveled to various countries in Africa.

He also holds several honorary positions :

  • from 2010 to 2019 part of the board of the German Foundation for World Population (DSW)
  • Member of the board of trustees of the Rudolf von Bennigsen Foundation
  • Chairman of the Society of Friends of the Rudolf von Bennigsen Foundation e. V.
  • Member of the state board of the Liberal Mittelstand Lower Saxony e. V.
