Career
Watanabe learned to play soccer on the school team at Funabashi High School . He signed his first contract with Vegalta Sendai in 2005 . The club played in the second highest league in the country, the J2 League . In 2009 he was with the club master of the J2 League and rose to the J1 League . In 2012 he was runner-up in the J1 League with the club. For the club he completed 170 league games. In 2015 he moved to league competitor Montedio Yamagata . At the end of the 2015 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League. For the club he completed 52 league games. In 2017 he moved to league rivals Renofa Yamaguchi FC . For the club he completed 61 league games. In 2019 he moved to the third division Thespakusatsu Gunma . In 2019 he was runner-up with the club in the J3 League and was promoted to the J2 League.
