The Kodori ( Russian Кодо́ри, Кодо́р Kodor , Abkhazian Кәыдры , Georgian კოდორი ) is a river in the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia in northwest Georgia .
The Kodori arises at the confluence of the Sakeni (left) and Gwandra (right) on the southwest flank of the Greater Caucasus . In the upper reaches it flows through the Kodori Valley , a narrow rocky gorge, in a westerly direction. The river passes the place Lata and continues its course through the Rajon Gulripschi in a western, later in a southwest direction. 25 km from its mouth it reaches the coastal plain. Finally it flows into the Black Sea south of Gulripschi .
The Kodori has a length of 80 km. It drains an area of 2030 km². The river is mainly fed by rainfall throughout the year . The mean discharge 25 km above the mouth is 123 m³ / s. The kodori was used for rafting , at least in the past .
