The Koerner Bluff is a bare rock cliff in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . In the Flood Range , it rises on the northwestern edge of the Mount Bursey massif .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from the years 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after the British glaciologist Roy Martindale Koerner (1932-2008), who from 1962 to In 1963, as part of the United States Antarctic Research Program, was involved in the exploration of Marie Byrd Land by land, which was started by Byrd Station .
