Kofi Asante Ofori-Atta

Aaron Eugene Kofi Asante Ofori-Atta (born December 5, 1912 in Kibi , Ghana , † before 1988) was one of the most famous politicians in the West African state of Ghana.

Career

Kofi Asante Ofori-Atta was Minister for Local Government for the Convention People's Party (CPP) in the first cabinet of Ghana under the then Prime Minister and later President Kkrumah . Later he was Minister of Justice also under Nkrumah.

Ofori-Atta was the fourth speaker of parliament in independent Ghana during the presidency of Kwame Nkrumah . He held this office between June 10, 1965 and February 22, 1966. After the military coup by the National Liberation Council , Ofori-Atta lost his post as Speaker of Parliament.

family

Ofori-Atta comes from the royal family of the Okyenhene of Akyem Abuakwa and is the brother of William Ofori-Atta , uncle of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo , brother-in-law of Edward Akufo-Addo and father of the musician Nana Boakye Ofori Atta , stage name Pozo Hayes .
