Kokrajhar is a city in the Indian state of Assam . The city is located in the Bodoland region.
The city is the capital of the Kokrajhar district . Kokrajhar has the status of a municipal board . The city is divided into 10 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 34,136 inhabitants, of which 17,567 were men and 16,569 women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 94%. Muslims form a minority of over 2%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 90.0%, well above the national average. 22.9% belong to the Scheduled Tribes .
Kokrajhar Station is located on the New Jalpaiguri - New Bongaigaon section of the Barauni - Guwahati main line under the Indian Railways' Northeast Frontier Railway zone .
