The Kolb Distribution Ltd. ( Kolb market presence ), based in Hedingen, is an internationally active Swiss chemical company that specializes in the manufacture and sale of nonionic surfactants and paper process chemicals .
At its two production sites in Hedingen and Moerdijk ( Netherlands ), the “Dr. W. Kolb Holding AG »organized the Kolb Group, defoamers and felt detergents as well as nonionic surfactants for the paper and textile industry , the cosmetics and detergent industry as well as for various other areas of application. While the plant in Moerdijk concentrates on the manufacture of large-volume products in the surfactant sector, in addition to production, purchasing and sales as well as research and development take place at the established location in Hedingen .
history
The company was founded in Hedingen in 1964 by the chemist Werner Kolb. After the focus was initially on chemicals for paper production, the production of surfactants led to the expansion to other areas, in particular to applications for the cosmetics and detergent industries, where surfactants play an important role.
In 1991 Werner Kolb transferred the management of the family business to his eldest daughter Esther Dale-Kolb, who at the same time also took over the majority of the shares with 51 percent. In the same year the two founded the Dr. W. Kolb Holding AG , which from then on formed the umbrella of the group of companies. In 1993 the plant of the subsidiary in Moerdijk, also founded in 1991, started operations. Two years later, another subsidiary was founded for the Asian region.
In December 2006, the owner family decided to sell the company to the Malaysian Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad (KLK). Since then, the Kolb Group has been run as an independent subsidiary of the KLK Group.
