history

Pesa Acatus Plus

Local rail passenger transport in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship was provided from 2001 by the Przewozy Regionalne (PR) company, a subsidiary of the state-owned Polskie Koleje Państwowe . In 2008, PR became the property of 16 Polish voivodeships , with the Lesser Poland voivodeship receiving 6.4% of the shares in PR. Przewozy Regionalne has repeatedly been accused by the voivodeships of charging too high prices for the provision of transport services. Therefore, the Masovian Voivodeship and then the Lower Silesian Voivodeship , the Greater Poland Voivodeship and the Silesian Voivodeship founded their own railway companies in 2010, which have their own vehicles. The Lesser Poland Voivodeship followed suit in December 2013 with the establishment of Koleje Małopolskie. In 2014, the railway company was granted the Polish and European safety certificate as well as the passenger transport license. Operations began in December 2014. In September 2015, the sale of the 500,000th ticket was announced. Monthly tickets were counted like single tickets in this count. Since September 28, 2015, Kraków-Balice Airport has been served by the newly electrified Kraków Lotnisko Airport Station .

The Koleje Małopolskie have six electric multiple units from the manufacturer Pesa of the Acatus Plus type .
