goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film 2015

The 15th goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film took place from April 22nd to April 28th, 2015 in Wiesbaden . The opening film was Ciało by Polish director Małgorzata Szumowska .

International competition

The festival's international competition comprised sixteen films, six of which were documentaries. The jury president of the international competition was the Czech producer Pavel Strnad . Other members were the Polish actress Anja Antonowics , the German film journalist Bernd Bruder , the Romanian director Marian Crișan and the Bosnian-Herzegovinian director Ines Tanović .

The film No Man's Child ( Ničije dete ) by Vuk Ršumović was awarded the prize for the best film . Koza ( Koza ) by Ivan Ostrocovský received the Prize of the State Capital Wiesbaden for Best Director . And the German Foreign Office award went to the film Logbook Serbistan ( Destinacija_Serbistan ) by Želimir Žilnik .

The FIPRESCI competition for the “International Film Critics Prize” also took place at the festival . The award also went to the film Koza.

Other Events

The film competitions were supplemented by numerous other program items. The festival offered the East-West Talend Lab for young filmmakers from Eastern Europe and Germany . The Open Frame Award of the BHF-BANK Foundation for experimental film and video art, endowed with 5000 euros, was presented at this advanced training event. The goEast Development Award was also given.

This year's Beyond Belonging series was titled Films Against War: On Trauma and Reconciliation and was devoted to the conflicts in the region since the fall of the Wall. In addition to the current conflict in Ukraine, she dealt with the wars in the Caucasus and the collapsed Yugoslavia.

A symposium was held this year on the work of director Artur Brauner . The work of the director, author and actor Marlen Chuzijew was honored with a comprehensive homage.
