history
The station was built east of the Alexander Bridge in 1898 and was originally called the Alexander Bridge. It was part of the first section of the suspension railway, which opened on March 1, 1901. After the station burned down in the Second World War , like the Kluse station, it was not rebuilt, as the Elberfeld center was already sufficiently accessible by tram, so that the suspension railway could be accelerated by eliminating the station.
Since the shutdown of the tram was planned in the 1970s, a new construction of the station was tackled. The Ohligsmühle station, which was designed in 1974 by the Rathke architectural office, was opened west of the Alexander Bridge on September 4, 1982. At that time, the station stood out clearly from the other stations due to its modern design. Self-cleaning windows were installed, but they were dulled by the sun's rays, so that they were replaced in the course of the renovation in 2003. In addition, the escalators were removed and replaced by one elevator per platform.
Bus routes 2014–2017
The one piece away from the monorail station located bus stop Ohligsmühle (main station) replaced during the renovation work on Döppersberg July 2014 to May 2017 the central bus station at the main train station . All bus lines that touch the main train station - with the exception of the lines SB67, 612, 622 and 628, which run eastwards - served this temporary central bus station during the renovation. He owned two bus platforms 1 and 2 on the Bundesallee (B7) , which was closed to individual traffic , between which the bus parking and turning area was located, as well as two further bus platforms 3 and 4 on Südstraße. Since the relocation of the provisional central bus station to the Wall and Morianstrasse and the reintroduction of the one-way street regulation on the Wall, the bus stop has mainly only been used in the direction of Wall.
