The suspension railway station Völklinger Straße is a station of the Wuppertal suspension railway in the district of Barmen of the city of Wuppertal . It is located on the waterway between the Landgericht (towards Vohwinkel) and Loher Brücke (towards Oberbarmen) suspension railway stations .
As part of the modernization of the suspension railway, the station was completely rebuilt from 2011 to 2012.
Location, architecture and history
The Völklinger Straße stop is in Unterbarmen , near the police headquarters and the employment agency .
The suspension railway station Völklinger Straße is one of three stations (the other two are the district court and the Werther bridge ) that were rebuilt true to the original in Art Nouveau style. Like all stations in Barmer (with the exception of Werther Brücke and Alter Markt ), it was an alternative to the Elberfeld standard suspension railway station, the type without a gable roof and only with a roof over the platforms. Since the renovation of the Wupperfeld , Adlerbrücke and Loher Brücke stations , it has been the last remaining representative of this type alongside the Landgericht station. It was dismantled from autumn 2011 to mid-2012 and rebuilt with the same shape.
