The Wuppertal-Vohwinkel train station can be reached on foot in just over 5 minutes, which ensures good connections to the regional train lines in the direction of Düsseldorf , Cologne and Dortmund , as well as to the S-Bahn lines in the direction of Essen , Düsseldorf and Hagen .

History and architecture

The stop was completely renewed as part of the suspension railway modernization in 2003. It forms a group with the Hammerstein and Sonnborn stations . Like their predecessors, they were planned according to a uniform construction principle. The stops have been built across the street between the rows of houses on the foundations of the old stations. The function determines the shape and material of the stop: steel for the supporting structure, glass for the outer skin and wood for the platform surface. The new stairwells, also built on the old site, have been widened as much as possible and have elevators. Due to the difficult and very different property situations, each staircase had to be individually adapted to the local conditions. The architects responsible were also Bernward von Chamier and Francisco Molina .
