The Hammerstein suspension railway station is a station on the Wuppertal suspension railway in the Vohwinkel district of the city of Wuppertal . It is located on the land route between the suspension railway stations Bruch (towards Vohwinkel) and Sonnborner Straße (towards Oberbarmen).
The station was completely renewed in the course of the suspension railway modernization in 2003.
location
Hammerstein is located on the so-called land route above Kaiserstraße ( B 228 ) in Vohwinkel, directly on the city district border to Sonnborn . Shortly before or after the station, the suspension railway crosses the Sonnborner Kreuz .
The stop was rebuilt as part of the modernization after the previous one was demolished in 2003. It forms a group with the Bruch and Sonnborner Straße stations . The primary supporting structure consists of the two portals arranged above the street as well as the lattice girder running longitudinally between them. This is 33 meters long at this point and absorbs the roof loads as well as the platforms suspended from sheet steel and the facade. The architects responsible were Bernward von Chamier and Francisco Molina.
