The Werther Brücke suspension railway station is a station on the Wuppertal suspension railway in the Barmen district of the city of Wuppertal . It is located on the waterway between the suspension railway stations Alter Markte (towards Vohwinkel ) and Wupperfeld (towards Oberbarmen ).
As part of the modernization of the suspension railway, the station was completely rebuilt in 2013.
Location and history
The Werther Brücke stop is located in Barmen at the east end of the Werth or downtown Barmer, at the Werther Brücke that gives it its name .
The station dates back to the original time and was described as the most beautiful of the remaining old stations, as it was the only still clearly visible Art Nouveau element. In 1984 it was restored and, in collaboration with the Wuppertal artist Anneliese Reckewitz-Epple , got the original color back.
Preparations for the renewal of the station began in February 2011. At the end of 2012 it was dismantled and rebuilt in identical form by the Spiekermann company by August 12, 2013. On August 19, 2013, the station was officially opened by Mayor Peter Jung and the chairman of the WSW management board, Andreas Feicht . The opening at the Werther Brunnen was celebrated by the WSW, the Real Estate Location Association (ISG) Barmen-Werth and residents of Wuppertal, and guests were invited to free rides in the Kaiserwagen . On January 20, 2014 was new LED - outdoor lighting presented by the SSE.
