The Pestalozzistraße suspension railway station is a station on the Wuppertal suspension railway in the Elberfeld-West district of the city of Wuppertal . It is located on the waterway between the suspension railway stations Westende (towards Vohwinkel) and Robert-Daum-Platz (towards Oberbarmen).
As part of the modernization of the suspension railway, the station was completely rebuilt on August 7, 2000 by the Cologne architects Jaspert and Steffen.
Location and history
The Pestalozzistraße stop is in the immediate vicinity of the Arrenberg residential area , which it also opens up. The station was formerly called Schillerbrücke (today Wupperbrücke Pestalozzistraße), which bridges the Wupper shortly before / after the station. It is located across from Gutenbergplatz . The scaffolding workshop for the modernization of the suspension railway was located opposite. The gabled roof is modeled on the historic design and is equipped with aluminum - profiled sheets covered. 38 cubic meters of concrete, 315 tons of steel and 587 square meters of glass were required for the new building.
It forms a group with the stations Varresbecker Straße , Westende and Robert-Daum-Platz .
