Koloman Tomsich

Koloman Tomsich (born October 12, 1886 in Schandorf ; † November 25, 1944 in Wiener Neustadt ) was an Austrian state official and politician ( SDAP ). From 1923 to 1934 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Life

Koloman Tomsich was born as the son of the elementary school teacher Anton Tomsich from Nikitsch and grew up in a Burgenland-Croatian family as the second of seven children, three of whom started teaching. After attending primary school, Tomsich graduated from grammar school in Győr and the teacher training college in Oberschützen . Koloman Tomsich began his teaching career in 1905 in Kleinwarasdorf and later taught in Mutschendorf (both places in today's Burgenland) and in Groß-Nahring (today Nagynarda in Hungary) until 1922. Tomsich was inspector of Croatian schools from 1923.

Tomsich was involved in the Social Democratic Labor Party. He was the editor of two Burgenland-Croatian newspapers, Hrvatske Novine and then Nas Glas . In the latter, he actively represented the cause of social democracy in Austria. He was a member of the state party executive and in 1930 country leader of the Republican Protection Association .

Tomsich represented the Social Democratic Labor Party between November 13, 1923 and February 12, 1934 in the Burgenland Landtag and lost his mandate after the Social Democratic Party was banned. After a short, politically motivated remand he moved to Vienna . From December 1, 1938 until his death on November 25, 1944, he worked as a municipal clerk in Wiesen , where he was also buried.
