location

The small town of Kristiansminde is located directly 500 meters north of the settlement, on the edge of the Frøslev Plantation . All houses in the Kolonisthuse settlement are connected by the Kolonisthusevej, which ends at Simondysvej to the east . One kilometer south of the settlement lies the town of Ellund on the German side of the border . Frøslev is about two kilometers to the northeast. The city of Flensburg is about five kilometers east of the settlement.

background

From 1761 King Friedrich V had the sparsely populated heather and moor areas on the Schleswigschen Gest colonized by people from Palatinate and Hesse . On the Frösleefeld ( Danish Frøslev Mark) three colonist posts were set up, which belonged to colony No. 15 Julianenanbau. The three colonist houses there today have the addresses Kolonisthusevej 4, 6 and 8.

The Kolonisthuse settlement was already mentioned by name on the land survey of the Danish Scientific Society from 1857/1858 used by the Danish General Staff. A map from 1863 recorded the settlement under its abbreviated colony name: “Col. Julianenan ". Although the settlement was not named on the map of the Prussian land survey around 1879, the outlines of the settlement houses were clearly marked. After the referendum in Schleswig in 1920, the settlement with the colonist houses came to Denmark and has been known as the Kolonisthuse since then.
