Educational Exchange Commission
The Commission for Educational Exchange eV, COINED for short, is a German association based in Hemmoor .
The association has offices in Argentina ( Buenos Aires , Córdoba , Ushuaia , Bariloche and Mendoza ), Spain ( Barcelona ), Chile ( Santiago de Chile ) and Germany . According to its own information, the non-profit association wants to make a contribution to the improvement of society with its voluntary services, is active in the service of international understanding and advocates for the socially disadvantaged. The basis for the association's work is mutual respect between cultures and countries, in order to create new opportunities for interaction between people. The international head office is located in Santiago de Chile.
The organization was founded in Cuxhaven in 1971 . The ideas and founders were a German theology student and an Argentine literature student who had met in the USA. The initial cultural and educational exchange program for Argentine and German students quickly grew into a non-governmental organization with intercultural programs.
Child sponsorship in Argentina
In 1991 the “Oportunidad Educativa” program was developed. With this sponsorship program the education and upbringing of destitute children in Argentina are supported. Motivated children are gradually integrated into a school in Córdoba and provided with teaching material, school uniforms and other necessary things for school. At the same time, the association supplies the family with the most important basic foodstuffs twice a month, helps them find work and gives advice on other issues. Medical care is also provided and social activities are organized. The concept is based on the help of volunteers in the country and financial support from private individuals and companies . The sponsors can seek contact with the children and thus follow their development.
