Kondovo ( Macedonian Кондово , Albanian : Kondova ) is a village immediately west of the North Macedonian capital Skopje .

The place had about 9700 inhabitants in 1994. The majority of the residents of Kondovo are of Albanian descent. Since 2002 the population of the small town has increased dramatically.

Since the territorial administration reform of 2004, Kondovo is no longer an independent municipality, but belongs to the municipality of Saraj , which in turn is politically part of the city of Skopje.

In 2001 Kondovo became known as the center of the Albanian separatist uprising and as a base for paramilitary units, among other things through repeated finds of illegal weapons. The city was occupied by units under Agim Krasniqi for over a year .
