A vendor's tray is a board, box or other construction that is carried on a belt in front of the body in order to offer goods on or in it. It can also contain various compartments and drawers in which goods and money can be stored.

The name corresponds to the original meaning of the word shop , which is a board or a mobile table on which, for example, haberdashery was sold by peddlers .

Today you can find vendor's trays at hawkers for tobacco products and other commercial goods in beer tents or on craft shops .

Coming mainly from the USA, there is an increasing trend towards more modern vendor delivery systems, which are used both in event catering and in the sector of promotional activities. The strap construction now often runs crosswise on the back of the wearer, which results in a more ergonomic load distribution than with the original models. Nowadays, mobile sales systems in the form of a vendor's tray are mostly made of woven fabric basket or special plastics, whereas vendor trays used to be made of wood (the origin of the vendor's tray is probably to be found in the West).

Boiled sausages have been on sale in the town of Hof since the end of the 19th century. In Hof there is the name Wärschtlamo (sausage man) for it. The Wärschtlamo traditionally uses a brass kettle for the sausages and a basket for the rolls. Although they are mobile, they usually sell with separate containers.

Bachelorette party

Vendor's trays are also used at the classic bachelorette party or hen party. The vendor's tray is strapped around the future groom or bride. Small products like lighters, booze, candy and condoms are in these vendor's trays. The aim is to finance the subsequent celebration by selling the products from the tray. There are also variants that not only include the sale of the products, but also consist of small, self-made tasks and games. This can be a sporting challenge, a little game of skill or a test of courage.
