The Conference of the Saxon Student Councils (KSS), also called the Conference of Saxon Student Councils, is the union of all student councils of the state universities in Saxony according to § 28 SächsHSFG.

The KSS takes a position at the state level in the interests of the student bodies and is therefore the contact person for the Saxon state government , in particular for the State Ministry for Science and Art , but also for other state-wide associations. In accordance with § 28 SächsHSFG, she is to be heard on all legislative proposals and ordinances that affect the universities.

The KSS has 14 statutory members and, in accordance with its rules of procedure, additional members. The decision-making body of the KSS is the state spokesman's council . The work of the KSS is based on its rules of procedure and its financial agreement.

The KSS is a platform for exchange and coordination for the activities of the Saxon student councils. It maintains contact and forms a network with student representatives from other federal states as well as national associations. It is also a member of the Action Alliance against Tuition Fees and one of the supporting organizations of the student accreditation pool .

The local student councils of the Berufsakademie (BA) Sachsen do not belong to the Conference of Saxon Student Unions. The speakers of the local student councils and their deputies take care of their professional and social issues as well as cross-location interests in the central student council of the Berufsakademie Sachsen (§ 30 SächsBAG).

Members of the KSS

The members of the KSS are at least all student councils of the universities according to § 1 SächsHSFG:

In addition, there are collaborations with student representatives from the following universities:

The members are the central organs of the individual student bodies . They are therefore all organs of a sub-body under public law with the right of self-administration . In contrast to this, however, the KSS itself has no legal capacity .

State Spokesperson Council

The State Spokesperson's Council ( LSR for short ) is the representative body of the KSS. According to the rules of procedure, which require the approval of at least two thirds of the members, there is a composition of at least 28 seats for the representatives of the members of the universities . It usually meets once a month at different university locations.

Offices

Two spokespeople, which the rules of procedure provide, are elected by the LSR .

Furthermore, there are assignments, speakers based on the decisions of the LSR . Continuous tasks are carried out by awarding contracts for coordination and public relations. Based on the financial agreement, there is an assignment for accountability for finances. However, there may also be other representatives, for example for certain projects.

At the moment, by decision of the LSR, in addition to the speakers, the following offices exist:

  • two speakers for public relations
  • a commissioning coordination
  • a commissioning finance
  • a speaker on university policy
  • a lecturer teaching and studying
  • a social affairs officer
  • a teacher teacher

The office holder's one-year term of office begins on April 1 of each year. To support its work, the KSS can set up committees in accordance with Section 13 of the Rules of Procedure.
