history

Since the end of the 19th century, other foundations have taken place, such as the Royal Flemish Conservatory , but it was not until the Flemish higher education reform of 1995/96 that the Hogeschool Antwerp was created by amalgamating various previously independent schools . In 2007 the university comprised a total of 16 formerly independent institutions. Including such well-known as the Herman Teirlinck Instituut , the Fashion Academy , the Henry Van de Velde-Instituut , the Koninklijk Conservatorium and the Dansacademie . Since September 15, 2008, the university has had its current name with the addition of Artesis . In April 2011 plans were published that provided for a merger with the Plantijn Hogeschool . The university has around 7200 students and over 800 employees.
