Konongo (also: Konongo-Odumase) is a place in the Ashanti region on the Anum River in the West African state of Ghana . It is the capital of the Asante Akim North District .

population

When the country was last census on March 26, 2000, the city had 26,735 residents. Projections for January 1, 2007 estimate the population to be 34,509. In the 1984 census, 13,677 inhabitants were listed. In 1970 the population was only 10,881.

The city is currently number 42 on the list of the largest cities in Ghana.
