The Konrad-Adenauer-Brücke is a four-lane road bridge over the Danube in the Mitte district of Ingolstadt . Like the Donausteg footbridge that follows downstream, it connects the old town with Klenzepark . The girder bridge was opened as a Danube bridge in 1952 and renamed the Konrad-Adenauer-Brücke in 1977 . During the overhaul carried out between 2001 and 2002, the entire superstructure of the bridge was renewed.
history
The bridge was built in 1948 as the first permanent connection over the Danube in Ingolstadt after the Second World War . Although a stone bridge was originally favored for the new building , the city council decided at the end of 1947 - presumably for cost reasons - for a steel bridge with masonry electricity pillars , over which a double-track tram connection was later to run. The Danube bridge was inaugurated on July 14, 1952 and renamed the Konrad-Adenauer-Brücke in 1977 , the tram was never built.
Investigations at the end of the 1990s showed a greatly reduced load-bearing capacity of the over 45-year-old superstructure , the repair of which was no longer economically justifiable. Between 2001 and 2002 a comprehensive renovation of the bridge was carried out for 4.1 million euros, during which the superstructure was completely replaced and the bridge piers and supports were partially renewed.

The bridge has a length of 141.6 meters between the abutments . The 22.1 meter wide superstructure consists of a fully welded solid wall - continuous beam made of steel , which supports an 18 to 36 cm thick reinforced concrete deck; the construction height on the pillars is 2.5 meters. The superstructure rests on two river pillars , which divide it into spans of 44.4 m, 52.8 m and 44.4 m.
