Konrad Hess (born February 15, 1908 in Zug , † July 22, 2001 ibid) was a Swiss politician (Catholic Conservative) .

biography

Konrad Hess was born on February 15, 1908 as the son of a farmer in Zug. After graduating from the agricultural school in Zug, he ran his parents' farm from 1928 to 1958 , which he took over after the early death of his father. Hess, who was married to Rosa, née Hürlimann, died on July 22, 2001 at the age of 93 in Zug.

From 1935 to 1970 he was a conservative politician in the Cantonal Council of Zug , which he presided over from 1967 to 1968. In addition, he worked from 1937 to 1976 in the corporation council of the city of Zug, which he chaired from 1945 as president, and from 1947 to 1963 as a Catholic-Conservative member of the National Council . In the 1930s he was co-founder and president of the Central Swiss Farmers' Union. He was also a committee member of the Swiss Farmers' Association . The committed farmer leader Konrad Hess was particularly concerned with securing the livelihood of small and mountain farmers.
