In 1422 he was appointed visitor of the order in Germany and in 1430 a delegate to the council in Basel . When Pope Eugene IV declared the church assembly in the Rhine city over in 1438 and called a new council in Ferrara the following year , Abbot Conrad and numerous other prelates advocated a continuation in Basel and, in 1439, the Duke Amadeus took part in the conclave of Savoy elected (anti-) Pope. He died in Basel in 1443 and was buried in Lützel.
