Konrad Klose

Konrad Klose (born May 21, 1866 in Oberau , district of Lüben , Lower Silesia ; † February 7, 1924 in Lüben ) was a German pastor and local Silesian historian.

Life

Konrad Klose was born as the son of the Protestant pastor Reinhold Klose. His parents sent him from Easter 1878 to Michaelis 1884 to the grammar school (knight academy) in Liegnitz . He then studied until Easter 1888 at the Universities of Breslau and Halle . He passed the first theological exam on November 22, 1888 in Halle, and the second on April 17, 1891 in Magdeburg . He then worked as a private tutor, first in Bruchsal (Baden), then in Colmar (Alsace).

He was ordained in Breslau on June 30, 1891. From July 1, 1891, he worked as a deacon in Lüben, and from June 1, 1905 as archdeacon.

From April 15, 1910 to September 30, 1919 he acted as the Royal District School Inspector, from October 1909 he was chairman of the Brothers' Council of the Christian Community Federation for Silesia.

In addition to his work as a pastor in Lüben, Klose dealt intensively with the local history of his place of work. He wrote the important history of the city of Lüben based on the study of old documents , which covers the period of Lüben's city history from the beginnings of the city's foundation until shortly after the First World War and which was published after his death in 1924.

Klose left behind two sons, Siegfried and Emanuel Klose, who also became clergymen. His wife died after fleeing Lüben in Bavaria . After the death of his father, Klose's son Siegfried published his literary life's work, History of the City of Lüben .
