Konstantin Peller

Konstantin Peller (born December 9, 1887 in Vienna ; † August 15, 1969 there ) was an Austrian architect .

Konstantin Peller attended the State Trade School in Vienna and then studied from 1907 to 1910 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Otto Wagner . During this time he also worked practically in Josef Ludwig's architecture office. He received the Rosenbaum Prize and the Hagenmüller Prize in 1909 and the Special School Prize in 1910. After a few years as a freelance architect, he joined the Vienna City Planning Department in 1913 and, over the years, despite the changing political regime, became a building inspector, in 1945 chairman of town planning and reconstruction and finally chief building officer.

meaning

As an architect, Peller was mainly active during the interwar period for the residential building program of Red Vienna . He pointed out large settlements to the home style remind us, just as monumental apartment buildings used for art in architecture could course. In addition, Peller specialized in the construction of fire stations , which had to meet special functional requirements and were partly designed in very expressive, sculptural forms. In the 1930s, his buildings became more matter-of-fact and simple not only as a result of the demand for economy, but also with the general trend towards modernity.
