Group watch Kahlenbergerdorf

The group guard Kahlenbergerdorf is under monument protection ( list entry standing) building of the Vienna fire brigade in Kahlenbergerdorf in the 19th district of Vienna Döbling .

building

The building of the Kahlenbergerdorf police station in Wigandgasse was built in 1929 according to the plans of the architects Konstantin Peller and Josef Bittner and put into operation in May 1930.

In 1958 the building, which was built in the expressionist style of the 1920s and was hardly damaged during the Second World War, underwent repairs. In 1980 the group watch was expanded into a water watch because of its proximity to the Danube - the work boat and the motor barge are stationed in the Kuchelau harbor - and in 1988 a general renovation followed, during which the masonry was drained and the attic was expanded, among other things.

Since the Vienna Woods also belonged to the area of operation of the group watch, a half-track Citroën C6 " Kégresse " was stationed here in 1932 and another all-terrain fire engine in 1936. Until it was used for other purposes, the Kahlenbergerdorf police station provided space for a crew of six, a mountain fire engine and an all-terrain tank fire engine.

In 2013 the building was handed over to the Friends of the Kahlenbergerdorf Association for an annual lease of 1 Euro . At the same time, the building no longer serves as a fire station .
