Kopflicht is a German television documentary by Mischka Popp and Thomas Bergmann (book, director and speaker) from 1998 , which deals with the topics of neurological diseases, brain injuries, strokes and psychoses.

action

Using selected examples, the film portrays people with neurological diseases who, due to their illness, perceive their environment differently than healthy people. Sometimes they have no memory since they suffered serious damage to their health, and some show problems with language formulation. The film shows different facets of neurological problems and the effects on the everyday life and the environment of the people concerned.

background

Both directors describe their film as “a journey, an expedition” into a world of neurological functions and malfunctions. The term headlights stands for this otherness in perception and expression. Those affected and their relatives as well as neurologists have their say in the film.

Awards

Head lights was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize in the Information and Culture category in 2000.
