Koretoshi Maruyama

Koretoshi Maruyama ( Japanese丸山 維敏, Maruyama Koretoshi ; born October 5, 1936 in Tokyo ) is a high-ranking Japanese Aikidō teacher .

As a schoolboy he started out with boxing , wrestling and judo (where he made it to 1st dan ). From 1957 he practiced Aikidō and was Uchi-Deshi in Aikikai under Ueshiba Morihei . After completing his degree in economics at Keiō University , he first worked in his father's company, but gave up this activity in 1967 to become a full-time aikidō teacher at Ueshiba.

In 1972 he followed Tōhei Kōichi and became head coach of his Ki no Kenkyukai with the rank of 8th Dan . From 1973 he became the representative of Ki-Aikidō in Hawaii . Koretoshi Maruyama successfully taught Ki-Aikidō all over the world, became the President of Ki no Kenkyukai in 1990 and was the designated successor of Tōhei Kōichi. However, in 1991 he retired unexpectedly in a Zen - monastery back in Saitama. He stayed there until 2001 and developed his Aikidō-Yuishinkai , with the Yuki health system embedded in it .
