The Riley Sprite ( English : sprite = 'Kobold, Geist') is a passenger car manufactured by the British car manufacturer Riley before the Second World War .

description

The Riley Sprite was a small roadster . Riley brought it out in 1936 as the successor to the Riley MPH .

The carriage has the same engine as the Riley 12/4 , a four-cylinder in-line engine with side camshaft hanging valves and 1496 cc. In the Sprite, however, it developed 61 bhp (45 kW) because it was equipped with two SU carburettors. The wheelbase was approx. 300 mm shorter than that of the sedans. The wheelbase was unchanged from the previous MPH, but the structure was longer and heavier. The elegant sports car reached 141 km / h. Usually the car was delivered with a Wilson preselection gearbox.

51 of this model were built in the short production time. After that, production was stopped without a successor.

A Riley TT Sprite has a different body structure. It makes them lighter. The chassis, the engine, the axles and the transmission are the same. The TT was built for international races. There are around six original factory cars.
