Korova is an Austrian avant-garde Metal - band . It was founded in 1990 and was primarily active in the Innsbruck area for the first few years. The core line-up has consisted of singer and guitarist Chrystof Niederwieser (including Angizia ) and drummer Moritz Neuner (including Dornenreich , Abigor , Atrocity , Graveworm and Leaves' Eyes ) since 1993 .
Band history
Korova became internationally known in 1995 with the release of their debut album A Kiss in the Charnel Fields on Napalm Records . The album shaped Korova's reputation as an innovative representative of extreme metal and is considered one of the first albums of the avant-garde metal movement that emerged in the mid-1990s. A Kiss in the Charnel Fields is characterized above all by the eccentric, varied singing by Chrystof Niederwieser, complex arrangements and frequent dissolution of the tonality. In addition to Extreme / Black / Death Metal, there are numerous borrowings from u. a. Progressive rock , psychedelic , dark wave , classical music and minnesang .
In 1997 Korova recorded a demo version of their second album Echowelt , which the record company was too experimental to release. In 1998, the second album, Dead Like an Angel , was released, on which more synthesizers and effects were used. Compared to the debut album, Dead Like an Angel is much calmer and more orderly and also contains some ballads and pop elements.
Korova officially dissolved in early 2000, but were reformed a few months later under the name Korovakill . In addition to the core cast Chrystof Niederwieser and Moritz Neuner, Renaud Tschirner ( Elend ) on the keyboards is also a permanent member. KorovaKill published in 2001 the album Water Hells on the US label Red Stream.
In 2011 the out of print debut album A Kiss in the Charnel Fields was re-released as a download. In addition to the original version, this release also contains the LP remix, as well as the bonus title Trip to the breeding Planets .
