Kortesjärvi [ ˈkɔrtɛsjærvi ] is a former municipality in western Finland . At the beginning of 2009 she was incorporated into the city of Kauhava together with Alahärmä and Ylihärmä .

Kortesjärvi is located in the north of the South Ostrobothnian landscape, 28 kilometers north of the core city of Kauhava. Because it is on the edge of the Österbotten lake landscape , you will find more forests and lakes near Kortesjärvi than anywhere else in the region. In total, the community had an area of 333.5 square kilometers. The last population was 2,275.

Kortesjärvi Church was built in 1792 according to plans by Jacob Rijf. It is a wooden church with a cross-shaped floor plan. The separate bell stack dates back to 1856. The Finnish Hunters Museum is also located in Kortesjärvi. It tells the story of those Finns who fought together with the Germans against the Russians in the First World War . This was the 27th Royal Prussian Jäger Battalion , which later fought on the side of the whites in the Finnish Civil War . In the Winter War and Continuation War they made up the majority of the Finnish officers on duty. Kortesjärvi describes itself as the “hunter community”.
